The Medina (old town) of Marrakech is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was founded around 1170 by the Almoravids, and it is still enclosed by 19-kilometers of terracotta walls. Within the walls are myriad narrow, winding alleys, arched doorways, hidden courtyards, public drinking water fountains and vibrant squares.
